True Sacrifice

So what are you giving up for Lent? It's easy to give up things we won't really miss, like broccoli or Saturday morning cartoons, but what about giving something up that's a true sacrifice? Something that will keep you mindful of the Lenten season, and mindful of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us?

How about giving up texting for 40 days? Or social networking? Could you do it? Would you do it?

Think about it: giving up something that you're used to doing every day—many times a day—would be a real help in keeping Jesus on your mind. Giving up something that's important to you for Lent isn't about torturing you for 40 days—it's about remembering the reason for the Lenten season.

So give it some thought—and if you do decide to give up something really important to you like texting or social networking, keep a journal of how it goes. It'll be something cool to post on your Facebook page after Lent is over!
